Who is Zero Hero?

Zero Hero is an icon created to represent the hero in all of
us. He allows you and me to give our small change
or small amounts to worthy causes and facilitates
it all electronically.

The Zero Hero makes it easy to give. It’s safe and convenient
and has zero impact, on our lives, but hero consequences to
others. How can we be zero heroes? By giving via our
payroll, cell phones, debit and credit cards and eventually at
every retailer’s point of sale.

Beulah

“Hi I am Beulah Louw and I am a Zero Hero.  I am
contributing a small amount via my payroll to The
Giving Organisation.  I think Zero Hero Payroll Giving
is fun and makes it easy for me to make a difference.
It also has no impact on my life.  Signing on was
easy.  I received an e-mail, clicked on the link
provided and chose to donate an amount.  I
challenge all employees to do the same.

Beulah is a legal assistant at an attorney’s firm in
Pretoria.

  • Rounding of small change

BLI is a diversified investment holding
company, presently having its' focus on
    the pre-paid market, (telephony and
other utilities), the electronic market and
mass distribution across South Africa. The
Blue Label group has expanded at a
rapid but well controlled pace especially
    in integrating its vertical distribution
channels by focusing on particular high
growth sectors of the economy and is
well poised to become a major group
within the South African economy in the
    near future.   Its distribution network
    exceeds 20,000 retail and wholesale
    outlets.

We applaud the Blue Label group as our first supporters of
rounding for charity in a retail store.  The group will be
rolling out more than 200 store-in-stores shops within some
of South Africa’s well-known retailers, allowing customers
to purchase airtime and any associated cell phone product.
Now customers will also have the choice to Round their
purchase to the nearest R1 and donate the difference to
    Charity when shopping.

This initiative will be launched early in 2007 and we appeal
to other retailers to follow suit.
